The story so far...

Back in the day when I was working for Brain Zoo Studios, one of my co-workers was freaking out about kidrobot.com. Just a month earlier I was visiting my sister in San Francisco and had wandered into the Kidrobot store in Haight-Ashbury. I was immediately hooked and bought my first vinyl toy, a Bunniguru by Nathan Jurevicius. My friend Patrick Lam was also a huge fan of this fledgling scene and decided he was going to open Munkyking, the first store in Los Angeles dedicated exclusively to selling Vinyl Toys.

Munkyking became a hub for collectors and artists who shared the same fanaticism. It was there that I first met Joe Ledbetter, Luke Chueh and Thomas Han. We were all influenced by the same art movements of the day - Lowbrow, Pop Surrealism, Punk Rock, Hip Hop, Skater/Surf culture, Anime/Manga, Cyberpunk and Industrial/Rave. For us, being fans wasn't enough - we wanted to make our own art. So I took my savings and bought a wide format giclee printer to help my friends start out. I used my experience as a video game artist and animator to sculpt Possessed for Luke Chueh and Mr. Bunny for Joe Ledbetter. Both figures sold out within 24 hours of their release and are now part of the Designer Toy Hall of Fame.
