This year, I’ve created a limited edition of my Akashi head design mounted on a stylish SPLAT! background.  The sculpture is hand cast by me personally in solid resin – no Chinese slave labor here, folks.  Limited to only 30 pieces, signed and numbered at the TOY ART GALLERY booth.  Be there!

I’m really looking forward to catching up with old friends and meeting all the crazed collectors! Drop me a note if you’re going to be around and please help me spread the word by sharing tweeting etc…

Resin is King – Series 2!

Tenacious Toys asked me once again to create some resin for the second series, so I must have done something right on the first round!  I decided to cast the head from my Akashi Toy which I’ve been re-sculpting and printing with my makerbot.  Event details HERE.

“Breakthru” for TAG Melrose Anniversary Show 9/15/12

Here are a couple of shots for a custom I just finished for the Toy Art Gallery Melrose Anniversary Show coming up this Saturday.  It has a built in blacklight and glows in the dark.  Two sets of articulated hands.  Extremely trippy.

Makerbot Arrives!

Anyone who knows about the digital work that I do will understand how cool this is…

I’ve got myself a 3D printer!

I have been collaborating with the guys at Makerbot and doing some digital sculpting work for them.  They hooked me up with this amazing machine.  The last two weeks have been a frenzy of digital printing from both my archive of digital sculpting from the last 15 years and brand new sculpture.  My current tool of choice is Mudbox, a great digital sculpting program.  This week, I will be at the San Diego Comicon, showing off the Makerbot in the Munkyking booth and featuring sculptures I did for Joe Ledbetter and Ron English – two artists I deeply admire.  See below for more photos:

Resin is King!

I recently finished up working on a custom resin cast project “Resin is King” with a few other super talented resin artists, including:

My creation was made digitally and printed on a 3d printer, then cast using traditional techniques.  The series will be available as a blind box set from:

Alex Cline Roscoe Mitchell Tribute

Just got word from by buddy Alex that this epic performance will be made into a CD for all alterna-jazz fans to enjoy.  I helped out a little with the video production and as Alex puts it, “schlepping gear” at the Redcat a few months ago.  I was blown away by the talent and professionalism brought by all to this project.  They showed great love and respect for each other and pulled the whole thing off with a minimal amount of rehearsing time.  Getting to watch Alex direct each artist with all the musician shorthand and lingo was fascinating and cool…
